The Emsona music programme offers a comprehensive classroom-based music curriculum for early-stage learners aged 5-12.
Designed with ease-of-use in mind, out goal is "click-click-click-teach"! No searching for what you need. No wordy instructions to bog you down. Just music-making for the joy of music and the thrill of learning.
Emsona employs a 4-step approach to music learning to build seensory and literacy skills that deepen understanding and fluency in the language of music.
Emsona aims to develop an awakened, discerning, musically critical ear in every learner for the purposes of enabling musical communication.
Specifically, Emsona strives to assist in the development of unique musical personalities, by equipping learners with listening comprehension, musical reading and writing, performance, and creative skills.
These musical skills can be enjoyed throughout life, however, the transferable nature of many of the above mentioned skills may lead learners to explore further educational opportunities in numerous fields both musical and otherwise.
The overall structure of the Emsona music programme takes learners through a sequence of learning levels within which a choice of repertoire-specific modules is offered, any one of which addresses the learning outcomes of the specific level.
You may opt to introduce all modues within a given level to work deeply on the relevant skills or just one module to revise skills previously introduced.
Modules are divided into 7 different learning threads in which relevant learning experiences are presented based on the learning outcomes associated with the current level.
Comprised of progressive learning levels, the Emsona music programme aims to lead learners towards the main goal of musical communication by building a strong foundation to support deep understanding and fluency in the language of music.
The programme can be navigated at any pace, dictated only by the curiosity and joy learners exhibit at each stage.
Music is a complex artform, however, the learning of music can and should be an activity that serves to develop not only musical-specific skills, but also the transferable soft skills of co-operation, collaboration, empathy, and creative synergy.
A selection of repertoire-specific modules are available within each level creating a comprehensive, and yet, flexible learning approach.
Each module presents a specific piece of music, however, all modules within a level address the overarching learning outcomes of the level to which they are associated. Therefore, it is possible to work through just one module in the level, or for a more thorough approach, all of the modules.
Each repertoire-specific module is divided into 7 learning threads. Each learning thread focuses on a particular concept or topic that is presented through a variety of learning experiences relevant to the musical work being presented and to the overall goals of the level.
Emsona emphasises deep learning of core concepts and skills that comprise the essential building blocks of music: musical time, pitch and expression. The primary goal is to awaken the ear to the nuances of musical communication.
Over time, the 7 learning threads weave together to create a web of musical understanding.
